FREQUENTLY ASKED

QUESTIONS

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT ON EXPEDITION?

Every Team GC expedition is different, and what you choose depends a lot on your fitness level.

If it’s your first time with us, it’s always a good idea to hop on a free discovery call so we can walk you through any concerns, goals and questions you may have.

Everyone has their own goals (whether that’s fitness or fundraising related, or simply a personal challenge), so it helps for us to get clear on what that is beforehand.

And if you’re more drawn to the social side of things, don’t worry - we offer slightly shorter, connection-focused trips too!

But rest assured: we’ll go through everything you need to know - what to expect, what’s involved, and how to prepare - during your free discovery call and in the group meetings leading up to the event.

DO I NEED PREVIOUS TREKKING OR CLIMBING EXPERIENCE?

Not always! Some expeditions ask for a bit of experience, whilst others are totally beginner-friendly. If it’s your first time we’d love to go through any questions / concerns you may have in order to find the best fit for you.

WHAT DESTINATIONS DO YOU GO TO EACH YEAR?

Since 2017, our core yearly expeditions have been Team GC x Mount Kilimanjaro, the Alps, and Morocco — all offering plenty of trekking, climbing, and big adventure energy. We are constantly looking for new adventures and in 2024, we packed our bags and headed down for a long-distance hiking trail at the GR20.

WHAT MAKES TEAM GC DIFFERENT FROM OTHER ADVENTURE COMPANIES?

Great question! Team GC isn’t a travel company - it’s run by people who are genuinely passionate about the outdoors.

Shadi has worked closely with local communities for years and partnered with a whole range of reputable companies and guides along the way.

Because Team GC isn’t a tour agency, it means are trips are bespoke and not weighed down by bureaucracy and inflated prices.

We can tweak the itinerary if the whole team is aligned on the change, which keeps things exciting and dynamic. Once you’ve had your discovery call and signed onto a trip, you’ll be added to a WhatsApp group with your fellow adventurers so you can ask questions and get to know each other before departure - meaning by the time we meet in-country, the bond feels real.

We’ll go through the full itinerary together, covering trekking details, departure info, insurance, and all the bits that can feel overwhelming - especially if it’s your first time.

With our grassroots approach and small group sizes, you’ll find that most people stay in touch long after the adventure ends.

And yes - a Team GC representative will always be with you, every step of the way, on the expedition!

HOW BIG ARE THE GROUPS?

Group sizes vary depending on the destination. We’ve had small groups capped at six and eight, and our biggest group so far has been eighteen - but even then, we split into smaller sub-groups (which will still be looked after by a Team GC rep!) so it never feels overwhelming, and everyone still gets the chance to bond properly.

If there’s a trip you have your eye on - get in touch and let’s discuss the details together!

ARE MEN ALLOWED TO JOIN?

Of course! On our expeditions page, you’ll see some trips listed as mixed group and others as women-only. This isn’t about excluding men - it’s partly down to logistics (like shared dorms and changing spaces), but it’s also because we believe women need spaces of their own to grow, connect and experience adventure together.

At the same time, we also believe it’s just as important to offer mixed groups where men and women can come together, united by a shared love of the outdoors and adventure.

There’s room for both at Team GC, and we believe that both bring something equally special.
